It is a cultural itinerary that begins at the Verna Sanctuary, passes through Assisi, and arrives at Rome, on the steps of St. Francis’ extraordinary figure. Spoleto is a fundamental stage of this pilgrimage; here the saint had the dream that led to his conversion; the Spoleto cathedral keeps one of the only two remaining handwritten letters by St. Francis, that to Brother Leo. Past the Ponte delle Torri, a footpath leads to the top of Monteluco, where there is the convent that, according to tradition, was founded by St. Francis himself.
