The property of the Mauri family, who started its construction in the early 17th century, it stands at the intersection of via Brignone and via dell’Arco di Druso, in the heart of the city, close to the former Roman Forum.
The rooms at the Piano Nobile were frescoed by Alessandro Bottoni (1622), Giuseppe Valeriani (1740) and Domenico Sergardi (1748); during a recent restoration, a very beautiful, early-Medieval mosaic floor was found. Across the centuries, the palace has served as headquarters of the Accademia Spoletina and of the State Archives; now it hosts the Public Library, provided with an ancient books’ fund, a game room and a rich multimedia section.
