Palazzo Ancaiani

The building was erected in the second half of the 17th century by the noble family hailing from the castle of Ancaiano, that had moved to town during the 13th century. The lower façade is coated in stone, while on the first floor, nicely designed windows flank a balcony abutting on two columns.
The inside, once thick with paintings, art objects and valuable furniture, now hosts the Post Office and the Study Centre on Early Middle Ages, an important institution founded in 1951 that organizes yearly congresses on various aspects of early-Medieval civilization, attracting distinguished scholars from all over the world.
